A decision has now been made on where to site the new Lower Thames Crossing.
The proposal is a new tunnel east of Gravesend and Tilbury and a new road to link the tunnel with the M25 between junction 29 and 30.
Jackie firmly believes that this is the wrong choice.
Jackie has consistently opposed this route since before she was elected in 2009 and she will continue to fight against it.
At the moment it is a line on a map. There is still a lot more to fight for. Jackie have already spoken to the Prime Minister about this.
Jackie will be putting together a detailed objection which outlines why so many people in Thurrock are vehemently opposed to this decision. In particular, she is interested to hear about any concerns about air quality and additional traffic congestion. If we can build sufficient evidence to show that this road will breach legal air quality standards, it will be back to the drawing board. You can write to her at my office in Thurrock or by email firstname.lastname@example.org
We got the proposal for a new crossing through Grays Beach and Tilbury rejected. Jackie has successfully fought against the Treasury’s preference for a new bridge alongside the Dartford crossing. Jackie is fighting to get this route changed.
Having been here for ten years – living in Purfleet and now Grays – Jackie experience the daily misery of our traffic conditions. We cannot have anything that will add to the problems on our roads or further damage the quality of our air.
