Proof that Jackie Doyle- Price and local Conservatives are fighting to protect our greenbelt when proposals for housing development in Aveley were defeated. The application was rejected by the Secretary of State following a planning inquiry demanded by Jackie Doyle-Price. Jackie said, “I am delighted by this decision, but the inquiry should never have been necessary. Thurrock’s Planning committee should never have approved this application. It destroyed green belt and the benefits for the community fell well short of what should have been due from a development of this size. Thurrock’s Planning committee needs to up its game. We expect green belt to be protected, and we expect them to make decisions which make Thurrock the best it can be. This decision fell short on both counts.”
